Install Bulbul

Bulbul is free, open source, and uses your own Groq API key. There is no Bulbul account or subscription.

Desktop

Install the build for Windows, macOS, or Linux from the download page. Open Bulbul, paste a free Groq API key , then choose or record a dictation hotkey.

  • Windows: the recommended installer verifies the release signature before installing.
  • macOS: allow Microphone and Accessibility so Bulbul can record and type into other apps.
  • Linux: the .deb or .rpm packages set up input-device access for the smoothest experience on X11 and Wayland.

Your Groq key

Your audio goes directly to Groq for transcription. Bulbul stores the key locally on your device; it does not proxy requests through a Bulbul server. Create a key at Groq Console , paste it in the setup screen, and keep it private.
