Troubleshooting

Bulbul hears me but text does not appear

First, make sure the destination text field has focus before you start dictation. Then check the platform permission that allows Bulbul to type:

  • macOS: Accessibility.
  • Linux: input-device access, especially on Wayland.
  • Android: Accessibility service.

The Android bubble is missing

Check Display over other apps for Bulbul. Android can also remove or hide overlays while battery-saving modes are aggressive; reopen Bulbul and confirm the overlay permission is still enabled.

Android Accessibility is blocked

Some Android versions restrict Accessibility for apps installed outside Google Play. Use the system’s Bulbul app-info screen and enable restricted settings only for a build you trust. Reopen Bulbul afterward and repeat the guided test.

A request fails or is slow

Check your internet connection and Groq API key first. Bulbul automatically retries and self-heals Groq connections when it can. If the issue persists, check whether the selected model is available and try again.

A special word is consistently wrong

Add it to the Dictionary. If you say a whole phrase repeatedly, use a Snippet instead.
